Vintage Book box / Caixinha Livro Vintage

I haven't had this much fun and joy in I don't know how long. This book/box is so beautiful that I can't stop thinking about the next one I'll make. It's one of those things you only make for someone you LOVE with capital letters, that will be my sister Renata and this is her Christmas present. We agreed this year that we will only give handmade stuff to each other (she is the artist in the family), we are three sisters.

So for this I made a detailed tutorial. It's not complicated at all, but it does take time and dedication. I found a very simple and wonderful tutorial HERE, but I did run into some doubts and the measurements are in centimeter, so I turned it into inches and added a few more details. Have fun!!

TUTORIAL / PASSO A PASSO

THE INSIDE BOX / A CAIXA DE DENTRO

1. Cut two pieces of cardstock 9 x 4-3/4 inches and two 9 x 4 inches. Score all for papers on long side every 3/4 in. You will do it eleven times on each paper. Then fold ALL score lines, but alternating IN and OUT, so it will look like zig zag at the end. Paint the edges to age it if it's the style you want.

1. Corte dois pedaços de papel 24cm por 12cm e dois com 24cm por 10cm. Com o papel na horizontal, marque uma linha reta de cima pra baixo a cada 2cm em todas as quatros folhas de papel, você fará isso 11 vezes em cada folha, depois dobre o papel no local onde marcou de forma a montar um zig zag. Eu passei uma cor marrom nas bordas para envelhecer. Fica assim:

2. After everything is folded and painted, insert the edges on all four sides as shown below. The only parts you will glue are the top and bottom flaps as shown here.

2. Depois de dobrar os quatro papéis, encaixe os lados como mostra na figura abaixo, mas só cole o papel de cima e o de baixo para dar firmeza.

3. Cut two strips 9 x 1-1/4 inches and use a border punch to cut one of the sides, this will be adhered to the top of the box.

3. Corte dois papeis 24 cm x 3cm e usando um cortador de borda contínua, corte um dos lados, isso será colado na parte de cima da caixinha interna.

BOX COVER / CAPA DA CAIXA

1. Cut a piece of cardstock 9 x 5 inches and score 4-1/4 and 5-1/2 (see below). 

To decorate it cut four pieces of heavy cardstock (I used two pieces of cardstock and two of chipboard to make it sturdy). The size of all four is 4-1/8 by 4-7/8 inches. For the middle part, cut two pieces of cardstock (again if you can cut one of cardstock and one of chipboard) 4-7/8 by 1-1/8 in. You end up with SIX pieces. 

2. Corte um pedaço de papel 24cm x 12,5cm. Marque duas listras de cima abaixo, a primeira após 10,5cm para fazer a parte do meio da capa que terá 3cm.

Para decorar a tampa, corte quatro pedaços de papel bem grosso 12,5cm x 10,5cm e para a parte do meio, duas tiras de papel grosso com 12,5cm x 3cm. 

3.  Decorate all your papers and glue the 3 inside pieces. For the outside part, also cut two pieces of ribbon, this will be glued before you glue the cover.

3. Decore da maneira que quiser (a minha usei carimbos) e cole na parte de dentro da caixa. Para finalizar a parte de fora, adicione fita antes de colar a parte de cima, veja abaixo.

4. The last thing to do is to glue the inside box, close it with a bow and you're done!!

4. A última coisa a fazer é colar a caixinha interna e fechar com um laço.
